Delete your account
Last updated: August 2026
This page explains how to delete your Learn Punjabi by PunjabiCharm account and what happens to your data when you do. There are two ways: delete it yourself inside the app, or ask us to delete it if you no longer have the app installed.
Option 1 — Delete it in the app
This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.
- Open the PunjabiCharm app.
- Tap Account in the top bar.
- Scroll to Delete account.
- Sign in again when prompted. We ask for this to confirm it is really you — it is the same Google or Apple account you used to sign up.
- Type DELETE to confirm.
Your account is removed as soon as that finishes. The app then continues as a new, signed-out user, so you can keep learning without an account if you want to.
Option 2 — Ask us to delete it
If you have already uninstalled the app, or cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the email address on the account with the subject “Account deletion request”.
We use the address you email from to identify the account, which is why the request has to come from that address — it is how we make sure nobody can delete someone else's account. We will confirm by reply once it is done, normally within a few days and always within 30 days.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes:
- Your sign-in identity — your account with Google or Apple is disconnected and the login itself is deleted. You will not be able to sign back in to it.
- Your personal details — email address, display name, nickname, profile picture or chosen avatar, and which provider you signed in with.
- Your consent records — your marketing and terms consents and the dates they were given.
- Your onboarding answers — the goals, level and daily-time choices you picked when you first opened the app.
- Your notification tokens — so the app can no longer send push notifications to your devices.
- Your day-by-day activity history — the record behind your streak calendar.
If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke the token linking your Apple ID to PunjabiCharm. If that step does not succeed, the app will tell you so and show you how to remove it yourself in your Apple ID settings.
What we keep, and why
We keep a small amount of information that is no longer linked to you personally once the details above are gone:
- Anonymous learning totals — for example how many lessons were completed across the app. These are used only to understand how the app is used overall, and cannot be traced back to you once your personal details are deleted.
- A record that a deletion happened — the date and outcome, kept so we can demonstrate that deletion requests are honoured. It contains no personal details.
- Purchase records — where we are required to keep them for tax, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes, or where our app stores hold them independently of us.
Your subscription is separate
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Google Play or the App Store, not by us, and they continue to renew until you cancel them there. Cancel first if you no longer want to be billed:
Refunds are handled by the store you bought through, under that store's refund policy.
Learning without an account
An account is optional. You can use PunjabiCharm without one — an account exists so your progress can be restored if you change or reset your phone. After deletion the app keeps working normally as a signed-out user.
